National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is to strengthen Nigeria’s digital sovereignty with the rollout of a National Sovereign Cloud Initiative aimed at securing critical data, boosting economic growth and positioning the country as a regional digital hub.
At a stakeholder engagement workshop in Abuja, the agency began consolidating feedback on three new national frameworks designed to guide the transition from policy design to full implementation of a sovereign, nationally governed cloud ecosystem.
At the event, NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Abdullahi, said Nigeria’s digital future depended on a decisive shift from fragmented server systems to integrated cloud-based infrastructure capable of handling vast data volumes and interconnected public services.
